Introduction

Protect your data by encrypting and decrypting any file on your Windows device using a variety of Hash algorithms, including SHA1, SHA256, SHA384, SHA512, MD5 and using the industry standard Cipher AES ( Advanced Encryption Standard ) used by many governments today to protect their own data. A number of further tactics have been employed to make the password and data as secure as possible, even if you use a weak password. Furthermore, if you choose to encrypt using a hardware fingerprint the key is combined with the unique hardware generated key on your device making the file extremely safe. Even if a person copies a file off your device via a USB cable, or copies it from your cloud account, AND also IF they know the password, the file will still be undecipherable!

Ideology

Most web sites store hashes of your passwords, so you can verified when you log in by comparing hashes. Problem is, if the system is weak and a hacker gets access to the websites database, the passwords can be matched by using brute force lookup techniques. File Crypt doesn't store your password, nor a mathematical calculation of it, anywhere, so hackers have NO information to base their attacks on. Files are simply decrypted according to the parameters you set. It either works or it doesn't. It’s very important you DONT forget your password, as there will be no way to recover the file.

Overview

2 types of encryption

1. Encrypting file names only means all your windows applications can't associate the files, and thus you cannot view/edit/play them. Great protection when your phone may be used by others.

2. Encrypting the file contents (plus the file name) makes your data 100% secure, even if they manage to make a copy of your data. Even though File Crypt employs buffering to encrypt very large files, it’s not practical, as encryption speed is about 500Mb per minute. Best to encrypt the filename in this case. Files up to 4Gb have been tested. This option is the ultimate protection.

Just want a quick and hassle free privacy protection? Encrypt file name only with Hardware fingerprint checked and no password. Now no one can view your files using apps.

Features:

*Encrypt/decrypt filename and optionally its contents
*Essentially has 2 modes, encrypt file names to break app associations (hides files, and encrypt contents for absolute security.
*Any file you can pick with the File explorer can be encrypted
*Encrypted files replace the original file in its original folder, decrypting will decrypt the file back to its original folder.
*Uses your chosen Background and Accent colour choices under Settings
*Choice of crc32, sha1, sha256, sha384, sha512 and md5 hashing algorithms
*Choice of industry standard AES encryption cipher with more to come
*Encrypts your data against the unique hardware signature of your device making it undecipherable on other hardware, even if the password is known.
*Uses buffering to work on huge files ( but can be slow )
*Can encrypt/decrypt folders in 1 operation
*Can select multiple files for encryption/decryption
*Your password (or any calculated result of your password) is not stored
*Can cancel the operation without losing data
*Shows real-time progress of your job
*Supports Encrypting over multiple passes, but not recommended.
*Supports Windows Phone 8.1 and above

Operation:

Encrypt a file

*Pick your encryption options
*Pick your password options
*Leave at Sha2 (256 bit) unless you have good reason
*Check 'Use hardware fingerprint' if this file can ONLY be viewed or decrypted on this device. If you choose this option, you do not have to enter a password, but it is strongly advised that you do.
*Click 'Encrypt' to encrypt 1 or more files in a folder. Navigate to the folder where the files are located and click the check boxes next to the files you want encrypted. Press the tick icon to start the process.
*Click 'Encrypt All' to encrypt all files in a folder. Navigate to the folder where the files are located and press the tick icon to start the process. It is normal windows behaviour to say "This folder is empty" (this is referring to folders in folders rather than files in folders)

Decrypt a file

*Pick your password options ( encryption options will be determined )
*Click 'Decrypt' to decrypt 1 or more files in a folder. Navigate to the folder where the files are located and click the check boxes next to the files you want decrypted. Press the tick icon to start the process.
*Click 'Decrypt All' to decrypt all files in a folder. Navigate to the folder where the files are located and press the tick icon to start the process. It is normal windows behaviour to say "This folder is empty" (this is referring to folders in folders rather than files in folders)

Note: There is a limit of 260 characters for windows paths. Some files may not be able to be encrypted if they are in long named folders or if the file name is very long.

** There is also a Windows Phone universal app which is free with this purchase **

Feature:
Encrypt and decrypt any file
